Aboriginal Affairs Minister visits Victor Mine

Ontario Attorney General and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Chris Bentley toured the De Beers Canada Victor Mine on April 8th, 2010.

Hosted by Acting Mine General Manager Rory Greyvensteyn and Aboriginal Affairs Manager Shannin Metatawabin, Minister Bentley toured the process plant, the Victor pit and the office and accommodation complex. The Minister also met with a number of employees from Attawapiskat and other First Nation communities from the James Bay coast during his visit, which concluded with a Question and Answer session in the teepee built by Victor Mine employees.

This was the second visit to the Victor site for Minister Bentley, who was part of the official construction groundbreaking ceremony in June 2006 when he was Minister of Colleges, Trades and Universities
