Victor Mine Power Supply Environmental Study Report |
The Victor Mine Power Supply Environmental Study Report (ESR) (March 2005) was prepared according to the "Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities" process. An expansion of the existing electrical grid is proposed to supply the Victor Project (diamond mine) in the James Bay lowlands with a reliable main power source for the later stage of construction and during mine operations.
This Environmental Study Report Addendum updates and clarifies points from the March 2005 ESR, based on the collective feedback received and provides route modifications. The ESR Addendum re-confirms that there are no significant environmental effects expected from the transmission line, given mitigation. Further information is contained in the Letter to the Reader on the first page after the title of the attached file entitled 'ESR Sections Addendum'.
If after review, a concerned party has outstanding environmental concerns about this project, these should be raised with the Co-Proponents; if the Co-Proponents are unable to resolve the issue, then a written request to the Minister of the Environment is required. Please see the second page of the ESR Sections Addendum for details.
The Co-Proponents are Hydro One Inc., Five Nations Energy inc., De Beers Canada Inc. and SNC-Lavalin. Contact details for the Co-proponents are given in the ESR Sections Addendum.
