NEGOTIATIONS
BETWEEN DE BEERS AND ATTAWAPISKAT FIRST NATION
Toronto, October 3, 2002 — The Attawapiskat First Nation and De
Beers jointly advise that discussions were held on 1 and 2 October 2002
regarding the exploration and feasibility stages of the proposed Victor
diamond project in Ontario. Both parties viewed the discussions as open,
frank and productive. Discussions ranged over a variety of issues and
no agreement has yet been reached. Both parties are committed to further
negotiations in the hope of reaching an agreement on the First Nation's
support for and involvement in the winter programme.
