Steven Thomas joined De Beers’ London based Diamond Trading Company (DTC) in 2003 to establish an Internal Audit function for its global operations and was promoted shortly thereafter to the Head of Finance, a position he has held for the last two years. As of November 1, 2006, Steven transferred to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer for De Beers Canada.
Prior to joining De Beers, Steven served for three years as Chief Finance Officer of Aquarion Company in the US, overseeing the acquisition and realignment of the Connecticut based company to provide presence across New England in a broader portfolio of complimentary businesses. Aquarion itself was a newly acquired subsidiary of Kelda plc. a UK FTSE 100, with whom he worked in the UK head office for his first two years as Head of Audit and Business Services.
A succession of roles in the UK spanning the health sector, financial services and public sector followed three years in public practice with KPMG London office.
Steven is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Joint Honours Degree in Accounting and Economics from University College Cardiff.
